ALLERGY PATCH TEST:
Must be done 48 hours before each application.
Allergies to products can develop even though you had no reaction
during previous usage. For this reason, it is important to take this
allergy test 48 hours before each application.
Wash test area. With mild soap and water, wash an area about the size of a
quarter inside your arm at your elbow. Pat dry.
Apply "Conditioning Color Base."
Use a cotton swab or tissue to apply a small amount of liquid from the "Conditioning Color Base" to the test area.
Do not wash test area.
Wait 48 hours unless you see reddening, or feel burning, itching or other irritation. If you get any of these reactions,
wash area immediately, keep uncovered, and do not use this or any permanent haircoloring product.

SIMPLE RULES THAT ASSURE NATURAL-LOOKING COLOR TIME AFTER TIME:
Must be done 48 hours before each application.
TIME YOURSELF CAREFULLY.
JUST 5 is specifically formulated to cover gray in only 5 minutes . . . that's all!
Extensive salon testing has proven that color develops in only 5 minutes after application.
Rinsing after 5 minutes delivers the right amount of natural-looking color . . . and prevents color from going too dark.
Start timing yourself after the application is completed. And don't guess . . . use a timer or watch.
APPLY ONLY TO DRY HAIR.
Do not shampoo or wet hair first.
APPLY TO GRAY AT TEMPLES OR TO PATCHES OF GRAY FIRST . . .
to assure better coverage in these color-resistant areas. Then apply to rest of hair.
TAKE ONLY 2 MINUTES TO APPLY.
If application takes longer, simply leave JUST 5 on your hair for a shorter period of time before rinsing.
IF YOUR HAIR IS LESS THAN 50% GRAY,
take 2 minutes to apply, and then leave it on for only 4 minutes . . . to make sure color doesn't get too dark.
(Application time + waiting time = 6 minutes). IF YOUR HAIR IS MORE THAN 50% GRAY, take 2 minutes to apply, then leave it on for
5 minutes. (Application time + waiting time = 7 minutes).
IF YOU LEAVE IT ON LONGER, COLOR WILL NOT LAST LONGER BETWEEN APPLICATIONS.
In fact, it may result in a color that's darker than expected.
IF YOUR HAIR IS BLEACHED OR HIGHLIGHTED, do not use JUST 5.

IMPORTANT:
You can color on the same day you perm/relax or wait
48 hours to maintain maximum curl.
Simply follow these guidelines:
Coose a color that's one shade lighter than your natural color, and leave on hair for only 3 minutes.
Before coloring, use your regular conditioner, if needed.
Color can be applied to damp hair.
Do the "Color Preview" Strand Test.
Follow application directions.
NOTE:
Do not color today if perm / relaxer has caused burning or scalp irritation, open cuts,
abrasions or hair breakage. Wait one week.
"COLOR PREVIEW" STRAND TEST:
Mix small, equal amounts from the "Conditioning Color Base" and "Natural Developer Lotion" bottles.
Apply quickly (in 1 minute or less) to the full length of a 1/2" wide strand of hair from the side or back of your head.
Leave on hair for 5 minutes for first-time colorers, or 1-3 minutes for hair that has been relaxed or colored.
Add water to the colored strand and work it into a soft lather. Then keep rinsing until water is clear. Dry and style hair as usual.
If results are satisfactory, go ahead with full application. If you want lighter or darker results and do not have permed / relaxed hair, see
"Waiting Time Adjustments." If you want much lighter or darker results, select a lighter or darker shade of JUST 5®.
If you have permed, relaxed, or straightened hair and want a much lighter shade, choose
another JUST 5 color that's at least one or two shades lighter. For the darkest shade of this color, see "Waiting Time Adjustments."
